Tim Sbranti
Executive Director, Contra Costa Building and Construction Trades
Tim Sbranti is an East Bay native with roots in Contra Costa County stretching back to the 1800’s. He has a unique background and experiences in public service, assuming the role of Executive Director of the Contra Costa Building and Construction Trades Council (CCBCTC) in February of 2025. In his capacity as CCBCTC Executive Director, Tim also serves on the Boards of the Green Empowerment Zone, the Contra Costa Workforce Development Board, the MTC/ABAG Community Advisory Council, and the Bay Area Air District’s Permitting Task Force.
Prior to his work with the CCBCTC, Tim had 24 years of service in public education. He was appointed by State Assembly Speaker John Perez in 2014 to be a founding Board Member for a new state agency - the California Collaborative for Educational Excellence (CCEE). Assembly Speakers Toni Atkins, Anthony Rendon, and Robert Rivas reappointed him until he stepped down after 11 years of service. Other examples of Tim's statewide leadership in education include his work as the first Executive Director of the Californians Dedicated to Education Foundation, where he was chosen by State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tom Torlakson to lead his statewide non-profit foundation to build the capacity of the California Department of Education. Tim also served on the California Teachers Association (CTA) State Council for nine years and as an elected Board Trustee to the Chabot-Las Positas Community College District (where he currently serves on the Foundation Board).
Outside of education, Tim has a distinctive record in public affairs. Previously, Tim served nearly 11 years on the Dublin City Council, including three elected terms as Mayor. After being termed out of office in 2014, Congressman Eric Swalwell (CA-15) hired Tim to become his Deputy Chief of Staff and District Director where he worked for three years before he joined the Innovation Tri-Valley Leadership Group (ITV) as its Director of Strategic Initiatives focused on public policy which supports economic development. Tim is currently the Vice-President of ITV’s Executive Board and will assume the role of President in 2026.
Outside of work, Tim has also been active in several non-profit and community-based organizations. He is currently Board President for City Serve of the Tri-Valley which caters to homeless and disadvantaged senior citizens. Previously, Tim served as the President of SupplyBank.Org, a statewide non-profit that is active in all 58 counties providing for the unmet materials needs of homeless and extremely low-income children and youth. Tim was instrumental in the establishment of both City Serve and SupplyBank.org and was also the founding President of the Dublin Historical Society and founding Board member of the Three Valleys Community Foundation.
Sports continues to be a passion for Tim in his spare time. He is the General Manager of the Dublin Leprechauns minor league baseball team, is a co-host of “Tri-Valley Sports Final” (a weekly sports highlight show that airs on Tri-Valley Community Television) and does some occasional work as both a Public Address announcer and commentator for St. Mary’s College on their ESPN+ broadcasts.
